Apostille procedure for legalization of documents in Minsk, Belarus

|

From January 1, 1993, official documents issued by state institutions of the Republic of Belarus for use on the territory of foreign states should be legalized in the prescribed manner.

For the states parties to the Hague Convention of October 10, 1961, which repeals the requirements of legalization, no legalization of documents is required. Documents issued by government agencies of one of the participating countries are valid in the territory of other participating countries, subject to the apostille. As of May 8, 2018, 115 member states have joined the Hague Convention.

In the Republic of Belarus, the right to put an Apostille has:

The Main Administrations of Justice of the Minsk City and Regional Executive Committees:

Main Administration of Justice of Minsk City Executive Committee

(Minsk, Independence Ave., 8)

Main Department of Justice of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee

(Minsk, K.Libknecht St., 68)

 on documents that originate from the subordinate state archives

General Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

(Minsk, K.Marks str., 37a)

 on all other types of documents

For documents intended to be submitted to the competent authorities of states that have not joined the Hague Convention, a different procedure for legalization is provided. All original documents are legalized at the Main Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus or at consular offices of the Republic of Belarus. Copies of documents are certified by a notary, the authenticity of the signature of which is then certified by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus and then legalized by the Main Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. After such legalization, it is necessary to confirm the authenticity of the signature of the official legalizing the document in the embassy of a foreign state in whose territory the document will be used or in the consular offices of the Republic of Belarus abroad.

The following fees are charged for committing legalization to the Consular Department:

Apostille affixing on official documents intended for use outside the Republic of Belarus - 0.5 base value;

legalization of an official document in the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - 0.5 base value.

The basis for payment is a receipt issued by the Consulate General.

Consular fees are subject to mandatory payment on the day of submission of documents!

The late payment of the consular fee entails the cancellation of the consular action.

Reception of citizens on the legalization of documents in the main consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minsk, K. Marx str., 37a, tel .: +375 17 222 26 76):

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday:

acceptance of documents - from 08.00 to 10.30;

issuance of documents - from 15.00 to 16.00.

Documents accepted for registration are issued, as a rule, on the day of submission upon presentation of a receipt issued at the General Consular Office and the original receipt confirming payment of the consular fee. In cases requiring a special inspection, the period of execution of documents does not exceed 15 days.
